Prof. A Min Tjoa

A Min Tjoa is full professor at the Vienna University of Technology for Software Technology since 1994 after being a full professor at the University of Vienna for Information Systems (1988-1994) and Informatics (1982-1988).

He was guest professor at the University of Zurich, the Technical University in Lausanne, Czech Technical University in Prague, University of Linz, University of Klagenfurt, Wroclaw University of Economics and the University of Kyushu. Currently he holds a guest professorship at the National Institute of Informatics (NII-Japan)

He is the president of the Austrian Indonesian Society (“Lembaga Persahabatan Austria – Indonesia) since 2017.

He was the president of the Austrian Computer Society from 1999 to 2003.

Since 2008, he has been the Austrian delegate for the United Nations Committee of Science and Technology Development (UN-CSTD). He was the Chairperson of UN-CSTD for the period 2018/2019 being its vice-chairperson for the periods 2015/16, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021.

Currently, he holds the executive-chairperson position at the Austrian National Competence Center for Excellent Technologies (COMET- Competence Center for Excellent Technology) in the field of IT-Security (SBA).

He has been awarded the Honorary Doctoral degree (Doctor Honoris Causa) from the Czech University of Technology in Prague for his research work, the Honorary Professor title from Hue University (Vietnam) and the Kempelen Medal of the Technical University of Bratislava (Slovakia).

He has published more than 250 peer reviewed articles in journals and conferences.

Dr. Muhammad Roil Bilad

My research focuses on Organic/Inorganic Membrane Science and Technology and Sustainable Reaction and Separation Processes. My research activities are mainly aimed at developing new strategies for the design and synthesis of functional materials from molecular building blocks and advancing the understanding of the structure-property relationship of materials. I focus on the rational design, characterisation and testing of smart polymer and engineered microporous nanomaterials as a platform for addressing environmental, water and energy sustainability (via, for instance, new approaches to CO2 capture, separation and conversion as well as waste-water treatment and liquid (solvent) separations).

I use molecular chemistry and crystal engineering to tune nanomaterials at different length scales from molecular to meso- and macro-scopic levels, this involves preparation of nanomaterials by optimisation of synthesis parameters and surface functionalisation, synthesis of hierarchical microporous structures and controlling crystal morphologies with extreme aspect.

I have a broad but specific interest in macromolecular chemistry and materials science and engineering in relation to membrane preparation, characterization and application.
